On Easter, April 30, 2000, the city department for family and youth affairs held the Easter Bells event. The head of the department, Kyiv City Council deputy Alexander Kulik, addressed the residents of the area with a proposal – to build a temple of God on this site. Priest Sergius Petlenko also made a call for the creation of a parish. Within 2 hours – while the festive concert lasted – more than 800 signatures were collected in support of this holy cause. The first step towards the construction was the construction of the chapel. Construction work was carried out with funds from philanthropists throughout the year – from the fall of 2000 to the fall of 2001. Despite its small size, the temple turned out to be elegant and cozy. On November 30, 2001, the chapel was consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Filaret.
Over time, the community grew significantly, and the church-chapel could no longer accommodate all the parishioners who came to the service. The question arose of building a new, much larger temple. In March 2003, the rector of the parish turned to the architects with an order for the design of a new large church, which was planned to be built next to the chapel on the site of the consecrated cross. The large temple was designed in the Ukrainian Baroque style. The cross above the majestic five-domed cruciform structure, 25 meters long and 18 meters wide, will rise to a height of 35 meters. It took 3 years to prepare the necessary design documentation and have it approved by numerous government agencies. In parallel with this, in May 2004, the foundation was laid and consecrated for the construction of a parish Sunday school, where children and adults will be able to study the law of God.
In May 2007, work began to prepare for the construction of the main structure of the church complex, and already in June, builders began work on the foundation. In August 2008, construction of the ground part began. Already during the first year of construction, the walls grew almost three meters in height. In parallel with the construction of a large temple on the territory of the church complex, the construction and improvement of the Sunday school did not stop. But the crisis made its own adjustments… The installation of crosses on the domes of the church took place only on April 2, 2015, and in June 2016 work began on interior decoration, which was completed only in 2018. Nowadays there is a Sunday school at the church and there is a library.
