Military History Museum of the Defense University of Ukraine

The Military History Museum of the Ivan Chernyakhovsky University of Defense of Ukraine was created on July 25, 1992. Currently, on two open areas of the university museum there are about 60 museum exhibits of military equipment and weapons, dating from the period before and during the Great Patriotic War. Among them: armored and automotive vehicles (pre-1941 models, including the M4 A2 Sherman tank from the USA, the T-III tank from Germany); artillery (model 1938-1943).

Among the post-war weapons and military equipment on display are: armored and automotive vehicles, anti-aircraft missile weapons (in particular, anti-aircraft missile systems “Krug”, “Cube”, “Strela-1”, “Strela-10”, “Osa”, ” Tunguska”; anti-aircraft gun ZSU23-4 “Shilka”, tactical missiles “Mars”, “Filin” and operational-tactical “Scud”), artillery, engineering equipment, aviation equipment (aircraft: MiG-23, MiG-23 BN, MiG -29; helicopter MI-24).

The collections of the military history museum also include an exhibition hall where about 1000 museum exhibits are stored, including photographs reflecting the life of the university since its founding (1914); display cases with gifts from members of foreign delegations, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants in combat operations in Afghanistan, and international peacekeeping and security operations; collection of bladed weapons; samples of firearms and ammunition: heavy machine gun DShK model 1938, Maxim machine gun model 1910, etc.; mock-ups of military equipment (T-34 tank, Kub missile launcher, S-75 missile launcher, and so on); The model of the battleship “Chaika” from Cossack times is made on a scale of 1:32 and there are many more unique, interesting exhibits.

The museum exhibits the transitional sword of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and the transitional saber from the time of Bohdan Khmelnitsky, which are awarded to the best graduates of the educational institution. During the sightseeing tour, visitors will be able to examine the stele “Defender of the Fatherland” and memorial steles to the heroes of Ukraine and soldiers killed during combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone, as well as a monument-bust of the twice hero of the Soviet Union, Army General Ivan Danilovich Chernyakhovsky, and stelae to 52 heroes of the Soviet Union , who over the years studied in educational institutions on the territory of which the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine is located today.
