Square named after Heydar Aliyev

In April 2013, a square named after Heydar Aliyev was opened near the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyiv, in honor of the 90th anniversary of the birth of the former President of Azerbaijan. On the territory of the park of 0.5 hectares, an architectural structure was placed – a fortress wall, like in Baku, with the only copy in the world of the unique “Sheikh Safi” carpet, made of Murano glass and ceramics, placed on it. Parts were manufactured to individual orders in various countries of the world – Ukraine, Italy, Germany, Azerbaijan. The construction of the wall lasted a whole year (2011-2012).

Magnolia, maple, plum, yew, sakura, quince, barberry, cotoneaster, plum and acacia are planted in Heydar Aliyev Square. A unique landscape composition was created from the same plants – a map of Azerbaijan. At the entrance to the green zone there is a monument to Heydar Aliyev. The pedestal of the monument is made of granite, its height is 1.6 meters. The monument itself is made of bronze and is 2.65 meters high. The park is guarded and fenced – you can relax in it from 08:00 to 24:00. The area includes benches, vandal-proof lanterns with unbreakable shades, and free Wi-Fi.
